From ASCE Government Relations: Boxer and Shuster Recognized as ASCE Honorary Fellows

“As part of last week’s Legislative Fly-In, ASCE leaders and members, led by ASCE President Robert D. Stevens, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE and President-Elect Mark Woodson, P.E., L.S., D,WRE, F.ASCE, presented Senator Barbara Boxer of California and Congressman Bill Shuster of Pennsylvania with certificates marking their appointment as Honorary Fellow of ASCE.

Both Boxer, the former Chairwoman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, and Shuster, the current Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, were honored for their years of leadership on infrastructure issues.  Additionally, ASCE recognized both legislators for their roles in enacting Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) and the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA).

From time to time, the ASCE Executive Committee of the Board of Direction recognizes individuals who have made noteworthy contributions to benefit the nation. Senator Boxer and Representative Shuster are the 37th and 38th Honorary Fellows of the Society.”
